Garmin Signal VHF 220
Stay connected and situationally aware on the water with the Garmin Signal VHF 220, a full-featured fixed-mount marine VHF radio that combines a built-in AIS receiver, Class D Digital Selective Calling, and an integrated multi-constellation GNSS receiver into one compact, IPX7-rated unit. The 3.5-inch color IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen delivers crisp 640 x 480 resolution at 1,000 nits of brightness, making it easy to read even in direct sunlight. With 25 watts of transmit power and coverage of all U.S., Canadian, and International marine channels plus NOAA weather channels, the Signal VHF 220 is a comprehensive offshore communication solution.
The built-in Class B AIS SOTDMA receiver provides real-time situational awareness by displaying range, course, speed, and crossing situations of AIS-equipped vessels nearby. AIS collision and MOB alarms add an additional layer of safety. Class D DSC enables one-touch distress signaling and vessel-to-vessel calling directly from the AIS plotter view. The integrated GNSS receiver supports GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, and Galileo constellations at a 10 Hz navigation rate, with SBAS and AIS Msg 17 differential support — no separate GPS antenna required for basic operation.
Advanced software features elevate the audio experience. Adaptive noise cancellation uses machine learning algorithms to eliminate wind, wave, and engine noise. Automated squelch constantly monitors radio activity to suppress static, with manual fine-tuning available. VHF audio playback lets you replay missed transmissions for up to 3 minutes on any channel. Advanced watch modes simultaneously scan all VHF channels while maintaining watch on Channel 16 and user-defined preset channels.
The included fist mic houses a built-in 5-watt RMS speaker and can be mounted separately from the head unit. An external speaker output supports up to 15 watts RMS, while the hailer loudspeaker output delivers up to 25 watts RMS with listen-back capability. The radio supports up to five RM 100 remote stations. Connectivity to the vessel's network is provided via NMEA 2000 and Garmin Marine Network (GMN 1.0/2.0), and built-in 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi with WPA2 Personal security enables over-the-air software updates, MMSI programming, and full configuration through the ActiveCaptain smartphone app.
