Lifelines & Terminals

Have you inspected your boat’s lifelines lately? If you haven’t, perhaps you should. Why? Because rust and wear can weaken lifeline cables, lifeline terminals and stanchions and cause them to fail. For example, lifeline terminals can weaken due to point loading or become brittle with age. The cracked outer cover of old vinyl covered lifelines can allow water to enter where it becomes trapped. This can lead to hidden rust that causes the lifeline to fail. If it is time to replace your boat’s lifelines, West Marine offers everything you need. Choices include a full, custom lifeline replacement, available from the West Marine Rigging Shop. Alternately, you can choose from our selection of lifeline wire and terminals and do the job yourself. Choices include 7 x 7 vinyl-covered lifeline, 7 x 7 uncovered lifeline wire and synthetic lifeline material. Terminals include single gate eyes, interlocking gate eyes and swivel gate eyes. Lifeline terminals and components also include toggle jaws, gate stops, stanchion terminals, lifeline turnbuckles and lifeline gate hooks. Lifeline hardware also includes lifeline wire and terminals from Alps Wire Rope, Johnson Marine, Alexander Roberts, C. Sherman Johnson, Schaefer, Suncor and more. Online and in West Marine stores you will also find turnbuckle covers, lifeline stanchions and lifeline cable covers plus lifeline swaging and crimping tools.
