Boat Parts & Marine Supplies in Annapolis, MD

Annapolis is the sailing capital of the United States — a title earned through centuries of maritime tradition, a world-class sailing community, the United States Naval Academy, and a position on the Chesapeake Bay that gives sailors and boaters access to one of the great inland waterways in North America. The Bay stretches 200 miles from the Susquehanna River to the Atlantic, with thousands of miles of tidal shoreline, hundreds of tributaries, and more protected anchorages than any boater could explore in a season. West Marine Annapolis carries the full range of marine supplies, fishing gear, sailing equipment, and paddle gear to serve the Chesapeake Bay boating community — plus a professional Rigging Shop and a comprehensive winterization inventory for vessels laid up through the Chesapeake winter.

Our Annapolis team has firsthand knowledge of the Bay's sailing conditions, fishing grounds, cruising routes, and the specific demands of maintaining a vessel in the Chesapeake's challenging mix of salt, brackish, and tidal environments year-round.

Boating Supplies and Parts

The Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries give Annapolis-area boaters access to an extraordinary range of waterways — from the Severn River's protected reaches and the South River's quiet anchorages to the broad open water of the Bay's main stem and the Eastern Shore's secluded creek systems accessible through the Bay Bridges. Whether you're maintaining an engine, replacing standing rigging hardware, or stocking up before a cruise to the Eastern Shore, we carry:

Rigging Shop

West Marine Annapolis houses a professional Rigging Shop serving the Bay's cruising and racing sailing community. Annapolis is home to one of the densest concentrations of sailing vessels on the East Coast — from Chesapeake one-designs and J/boats to offshore cruisers and high-performance racing machines. Our riggers have the expertise and inventory to handle the full range of rigging work this community demands:

  • Standing rigging inspection, replacement, and custom fabrication
  • Wire and rod rigging for racing and cruising applications
  • Splicing — wire-to-rope, high-modulus Dyneema and Vectran, three-strand
  • Furling system installation and service
  • Running rigging replacement and upgrade
  • Pre-race and pre-passage rig inspection and certification

Shopping for rigging hardware and line yourself? We carry a comprehensive selection of rigging components, blocks, and high-performance line from Harken, Ronstan, Antal, and other leading manufacturers.

Winterization Supplies

The Chesapeake Bay freezes along its northern reaches and tributaries in most winters, and Maryland temperatures regularly drop below the threshold at which water left in a cooling system, bilge line, or through-hull will cause freeze damage. Proper winterization protects your engine, plumbing, and below-deck systems from a winter that can be more severe than many Bay sailors expect. Our Annapolis store carries a complete winterization inventory:

Fishing Gear and Tackle

The Chesapeake Bay is one of the most productive estuaries in North America, and Annapolis sits at the heart of it. Striped bass — rockfish, as they're known locally — are the defining species of Chesapeake fishing culture. The Bay's stripers are a distinct population that spawns in the Susquehanna and its tributaries, and the fall migration of large fish from the Bay's main stem south through the Lower Bay draws trolling and light-tackle anglers from across the region. Thomas Point Shoal Light — the last screwpile lighthouse still on its original foundation — marks one of the Bay's most productive striper and bluefish locations. The Severn River, South River, and the Bay's grass beds hold white perch, largemouth bass, and catfish for inshore and river anglers. Blue crabs are a Bay tradition — the potting and trotlining seasons run from spring through fall.

Maryland tidal fishing requires a Chesapeake Bay and Coastal Sport Fishing License. Striped bass regulations — slot limits, seasons, and bag limits — are actively managed and change frequently. Verify current requirements at Maryland Department of Natural Resources Fisheries before your trip.

Sailing Equipment and Navigation

Annapolis earned the "Sailing Capital of the United States" designation through a combination of geography, history, and community that's difficult to overstate. The Naval Academy's sailing program, the Annapolis Yacht Club, the Chesapeake Bay Yacht Racing Association, and dozens of one-design fleets create one of the most concentrated and competitive sailing environments in the country. The Annapolis to Newport Race and the Annapolis to Bermuda Race both depart from the Chesapeake, and the United States Sailboat Show — the largest in-water boat show in the world — brings the global sailing industry to Annapolis every October. Our store carries the gear that serves this community:

Kayaking, SUP, and Paddle Gear

Annapolis and the Chesapeake Bay's tributary system offer exceptional paddling across every experience level. The Severn River's upper reaches above Round Bay are ideal for flatwater kayaking and SUP, with wooded shoreline and minimal powerboat traffic on weekday mornings. The South River's tidal creeks and marsh edges reward wildlife paddlers — great blue herons, ospreys, bald eagles, and river otters are regular sightings. For more ambitious paddlers, circumnavigating the Bay's smaller tributaries or crossing to the Eastern Shore's creek systems provides multi-day expedition paddling within reach of the city. We stock:

Our Annapolis store serves boaters throughout the greater Annapolis area including Edgewater, Severna Park, Arnold, Pasadena, and the Eastern Shore communities accessible via the Bay Bridges. We also serve ICW cruisers and offshore passage sailors transiting the Chesapeake.
