Shop degreasers at West Marine.
Marine degreasers are used for removing grease, oil, grime, fingerprints and other oily contamination from a wide variety of equipment, including inboard engines, outboards, stern drives, BBQs and other gear.
Do you need a degreaser?
Greasy surfaces anywhere on a boat provide a location to which dust, dirt and grime can adhere. Taken to an extreme, this can lead to problems such as engine overheating or slipping in the case of a greasy deck. Preparation for painting projects usually requires that surfaces first be degreased.
What should you look for when selecting a degreaser?
Along with selecting a degreaser capable of getting the job done, we suggest you select degreasers with an eye towards safety. With the exception of CRC’s 303® Marine Citrus Cleaner and Degreaser, all of the formulas offered on this page are non-flammable and low in VOCs.
Following are several other factors to consider.
Material Compatibility
Some of the degreasers we offer can damage certain plastics or other materials. For material compatibility, please carefully read the product descriptions.
Toxicity
While all of the degreasers that West Marine offers are considered safe when used as directed, we suggest you don gloves and eye protection when using these products; and that you use them in a well-ventilated area, since several of these products can cause eye and respiratory irritation.
Environmental Issues
For environmental reasons, we suggest you choose a degreaser that meets EPA requirements for VOCs. All of ours do.
